Our very dear friends Matt and Rachel’s mom Beth was diagnosed with Breast Cancer – Today is Beth’s Birthday and we joined in the fun to stuff her (virtual) mailbox full of birthday wishes. Here is Elsie with her sign and a (virtual) bouquet of silky flowers …
Our Nanny (Mindy) just unveiled this felt house today – she sewed it to easily cover our breakfast table and even made window boxes to hold flowers. This seemed like a perfect backdrop for a birthday wish for Beth since it reminds me of how crafty and full of energy Matt and Rachel are – which I am assuming comes from you Beth!
You are in our thoughts and we wish you a full (and speedy) recovery – our little ball of energy will be sending lots of positive squeals!

Mandy, Mark, and Elsie —
What fun to see your smiling faces again and to meet charming Elsie. She’s enough to make anyone’s birthday special! Please give her a thank you hug from me. I love the photos — my favorite is the one where Elsie’s peeking out the window of her new felt house. What a great creation. (By the way, I may be able to take a little credit for Matt’s craftiness, but certainly not for Rachel’s.)
Rachel’s idea of stuffing my mailbox was brilliant. Cards with mysterious return addresses started arriving two days ago, and I burst into tears (happy ones) when I read the messages they brought me. It’s been a very special birthday for me. I’ve had only one chemo treatment so far and I’m still feeling really good, but I know some huge challenges are ahead of me. The love and encouragement I’ve received will buoy me up and carry me through, I’m sure. Thank you so much!

Such a wonderful way to support Rachel’s Mom. Elsie Lane can brighten up anyone’s day! Mindy, you are amazing! Where do you find time to complete all your creative projects. You and Elsie will have a blast with that beautiful cottage.
