We are big fans of the Strider bike – a two wheel bike with no pedals designed to teach kids balance. We started taking Strider classes at Boulder Indoor Cycling. The Velodrome is amazing – its filled with ramps and obstacles for the kids to practice on and Elsie loves the class.
The instructor recommended we purchase a bike with pedals and bring it to class to start the transition. So for Elsie’s 3rd birthday – we headed to the bike store determined to select a unisex bicycle that our next child could share … of course, Elsie and I settled on Purple with Butterflies. The bike is quite a bit heavier and pedaling is a whole new concept. She is desperate to ride the pedal bike and keeps at it …
Tonight after dinner Elsie and Mark were outside practicing – she burst in the house and wanted me to come and see what she could do …
Well done stinker!

Usually the work “overachievement” does not need a modifier because, by definition, it means “better than expected performance” but in this case, I’m going to throw one in there and call this extreme overachievement! Holy Cow! Well done Elsie Lane!!!! Looks like Scott’s research on the Strider bike was right. Now if we can only get Mandy to believe Mark’s research on New York City’s crime rate….Love you guys! We are so psyched for E. What an accomplishment.

Genius!! I love Mandy’s excited voice-over–best part. That and how much Elsie is concentrating–her little face watching Mandy intently while her wee legs, slightly pronated, just keep circling almost by themselves. Go Elsie!

That is really adorable – Mandy your voice over is the best part. I know that feeling from watching Fi for the first time too – but my voice was much more nervous then yours. Very cute and sweet and all of that… Congrats E!
