This past weekend we headed out to NYC for the Harad/Stone Wedding (more on this later) – we packed up our little bean and headed off to the airport friday afternoon. We did not buy Elsie a seat for the flight and we did our usual trick (thanks scott and julie) of selecting the aisle and window seat crossing our fingers that no one would choose the middle seat. When we got on the plane we were happy to see that our trick worked – well actually the plane was only 1/3 full so we really had 2 full rows of seats to ourselves.

We opted to bring Elsie’s car seat on hoping the humming of the engines would send her into dreamland for the flight – so far this has been the case, but that would be wishful thinking.  10 minutes into the flight Elsie fell asleep – Hooray! I ordered a snack box (mini meal) and a red wine (enter in united’s crap red wine name here) and put my headphones on to watch National Treasure (yes, the plane rocks because all of the “mandy’s choice” movies I wanted to see but Mark wouldn’t go for are shown!). Just after I poured some wine and the movie started Elsie opened her eyes. The nap was over and we were in for it.

After going through our toys, books, walking along the seats, eating some snacks I was out of tricks, the seat belt light came on and we needed Elsie to stay put. Out comes the iphone … we had baby Einstein, Sesame and we were ready – I channeled Macgyver and rigged up an iphone holder out of an airplane headphone cord, a headrest and a pack of kleenex.

Here she is reclining and enjoying her shows…
