This year we headed to Scottsdale Arizona for Lavi and Andrew’s wedding and decided we should have some holiday vacation at the Firesky resort. We arrived Christmas Eve and although we told Santa not to come this year (since we really aren’t old enough to get the concept, were traveling with limited space and aren’t in need of toys) he still managed to find his way into Grammie and Papa’s room.

Elmo

One of Elsie’s favorite treats was the 12 days of Christmas Elmo (push his hand 5 times and he will sing you 5 days, push it 12 and you get all 12) – as you can imagine we were thrilled to hear Elmo’s nasal-y voice over and over and over.

Santa was smart though, he kept himself in check and brought fun toys to play with in the hotel.

The Firesky has beautiful grounds complete with a zero entry sandy bottom pool – however it was freezing (and raining) so we opted to swim in the “warm pool”.

After our morning swim we opted for a Christmas Lunch picnic. We ordered room service, put down some towels and had some snacks and beers.

Elsie then had some quite time with Sully and Monsters Inc.

For dinner we headed over to Clem and Jean’s condo (Clem is my dad’s uncle) to be with the family. Paul played us some tunes on his guitar and even let Elsie join in.

It was a very relaxing Christmas and great to be with the Richau’s!

*****

The Firesky resort was awesome. It is a Kimpton Hotel and they were extremely accomodating for kids – we had joining rooms to my parents (great for naps and early bedtimes), they set up a pack-n-play, put an additional fridge in the room (for Milk, and beer of course), DVD player and they even had a special Goldfish (Luna) in the room for Elsie. The concierge hooked us up with a nanny service so we could enjoy the reception. Its definitely a family friendly resort without being “geared” towards kids. We loved it!
